L'été arrive enfin

Hello once again chère famille!

Glad to see that y'all are enjoying your summer time visit from Greg and Darci! We are doing our best to enjoy our summertime over here as well! Right now, Ottawa currently has the annual Tulip Festival going on all throughout the city. We've learned a lot about all the good attractions here in the city from one of the senior couples here - you may be seeing some pictures of us over at parliament in the near future...

We have had quite the week here - we went back to Montréal at the beginning of the week for a trainers meeting - I realized that was my last time in Montréal before I head home...a sobering thought. After that, we had our district meeting here and I went on an exchange with Elder Chou who is our district leader - he came out a transfer after me.

This week we were able to commit someone to a baptismal date for July 16th! His name is Joe and he's got a wife who has been less active for a while - we are hoping to help the family get back on track to make some good progression! When the bishop/ward council found out that he had committed to a date they were all super surprised and super happy. We are definitely starting to develop a good relationship with the members/leadership here in the ward - the bishop always reminds me how much "clout" I have with him just because he's heard of my past experiences as a missionary. I was told "my reputation precedes me" when I got here in Chapel Hill. It's a great opportunity that we have here! I got asked to give a talk in sacrament in two weeks on "hastening the work" and I am really looking forward to that!

We have been finding a lot of new people as well through members and also just through our own efforts! Yesterday we saw somebody that we had previously met the other week. Once he saw us he called us to come over to talk to him and told us about some of the stuff he had researched about the church. We ended up sitting down with him in the driveway for 45 mins (he was at his parents' place) and had our first lesson with him! We will be going back to his place this Tuesday to teach him and his wife! We are stoked! It was a great learning experience for me and Elder Oopa!

We are really feeling like we are getting a chance to sink our teeth into this area, this ward, and this zone in general. We are already seeing the blessings come our way as we continue to work to the best of our abilities - the Lord has a lot in store for Chapel Hill/Ottawa zone. The entire zone got changed over this past transfer - we are starting to see a lot of the reasons why there was so much change as a lot of great things have come from it. We are feeling great here and just doing our best to help inspire others to do the same.

That's something that has been on my mind a lot lately - we never really know how much good we actually do. Life is about finding inspiration - through a number of different ways or things and then seeking to inspire others. In my last interview with President Patrick we talked a lot about this concept. Really, we should always look for those little moments or situations where we can just say or do something and make a difference - regardless of whether or not our action or word makes a HUGE difference, as we continually seek to do good - it shows. We just need to look for every opportunity we have to make a difference in the world around us - contenting ourselves with our surroundings or saying "oh well that's just the way things are" is limiting our perspective and our potential- in the end, it's a lie. Sometimes we just need a little inspiration from someone or somewhere to help broaden that for us and we should always be seeking to be that inspiration for others as we find it in other people as well. We are currently capable of a lot more than what we are currently doing - regardless of our situation, of that, I am sure. As we seek to do good and inspire others, we can help grow our perspectives and in the end, with the help of the Savior, He is the ultimate source of inspiration that can carry us through anything we may be facing. We never know how much good we do.

So get up y'all, and do somethin more this week!

Much love,

Elder Cody Warren Ritz
