Comme si de rien n'etait

Weelllllllllllllllllllllll, long time time no see. Basically, everything I needed to say I said over skype so yeah. I'll talk to y'all next week! Bye!

Okay really though it was nice seeing everyone, glad to see that not much has changed since the last time that we skyped - except that the boys keep growing and growing. They've forgotten what it's like to have me there to keep them under control and now they're growin like weeds.

As for our week, like I said, I'm back in Ville Marie as an assistant until May 17th when I'll be going out to Ottawa with my new missionary companion who I'll get to teach English too! :D So excited for that! I love training new missionaries!!

We had a lot of cool experiences this week: Michée and Simon got the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday!! Also like I said over skype, we went and met with an excommunicated member for the first time - the bishop and stake president want us to work with him. It was a really humbling experience as we talked to him about his story and how humility and faith work together.

Other than that we have just been teaching a lot of new people that we have been finding - one of our members wants us to go visit a friend's 10 yr old son in the hospital who currently has brain cancer to give him a blessing.

We also had two exchanges this week, one with our district leader in Valleyfield, Elder Jones, and the other with the Zone Leaders in Montreal.

In our conversation with the excommunicated member we talked about humility from Alma 32. That chapter talks a lot about faith clearly, but it also gives us the starting point of humility. As we are either compelled to be humble, or we humble ourselves, it leads us to repentance - or to make changes necessary in our lives to align our will with God's will.

As we walk the road of humility, we receive more and more of the gospel power in our lives which gives us "confidence" as the scriptures say, to stand in the presence of God. D&C 67:10 paints a really beautiful picture of where humility takes us - basically to "know" God as He is - which is receiving life eternal (John 17:3) as we KNOW Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. In this sense, knowing means becoming more and more like them - gaining confidence in their presence as we cleanse ourselves from sin and gain "new strength" that comes into our lives because of repentance and the grace of Christ. The scriptures talk about power that we give to Christ because of our repentance - that's an interesting and true concept. The Gospel is a Gospel of Power - as we exercise our own power, we receive new power in our lives to overcome the difficulties and push onward to a more perfect hope. We can only keep running away from our sins or avoiding our problems for so long...at some point it will catch up to us and there will come a point where each one of us will have to make a choice...so, which way do you face? That question is a lot easier answered the sooner we make that choice. So be humble! And be happy! :)

love y'all!! Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Cody Warren Ritz

Simon, he always calls me "mr rock n roll" - he has good taste in music.
