Vive Le Vent D'Hiver

Well, I want to apologize ahead of time for the brief email this week. But first off thanks to everyone for your emails and continued support! The new year is getting underway and the time is just going by way too fast! Also, good to see that my "Cody on a stick" made it all the way to Minnesota! Dang, I'm goin places! Nice work Riley, haha.

This past week was basically nothing but snow...snow...and more snow. This is actually the first time we have actually had some sun over this entire week. When ya see the sun in winter, that's when you KNOW it's a cold day. Sadly, the snowy days tend to be the warmer ones. Right now we are sitting around -20 C. mmmm nice n comfy.

This past week we had mission leadership council, and went on two different exchanges with some zone leaders. It all went really well! We also celebrated Haitian independence on January 1 with the Thelemaque family! It's kinda funny how they celebrate by eating a ton of soup! While they were under French rule, it was only the rich french people that had the privilege of eating/drinking (does one eat or drink soup?) So, when they finally gained their independence, they celebrated it the best way they knew how: indulging (one does indulge in their soup) in a ton of soup. They invited us over and we just had a soup feast. So dang good.

We also had Brother Belot (the less active that we found who is blind) and his son Jean Fred come to church for the first time yesterday! It was an awesome miracle to see them there! We also met this guy from Cote D'ivoire (so many people from there recently I am tellin ya) on the street the other day who immediately just told us to walk into his house with him and share our message. We did and know we've got him committed to baptism! It was a great experience! We have seen a lot of little miracles come from hard work and following the Spirit!

Once again I apologize for the brevity of this week's email. Hopefully the pictures will make up for it! :))

Love y'all a ton, and have a fantastique semaine!

Love,

Elder Cody Warren Ritz
